Hello members of Hidden Below, my name is not Jacqueline and I am new to this forum. I am not using my real name as I am still not familiar with the community yet, but I may use my real name in the future when I don't mind exposing my name in Google that I am on a cheating forum .

The tutorial below was originally written last year, but just today I gave it a big change and modify it for the HB community (I've been on my bum since 7 hours ago). I'm a Graphic Design student and I am here in the hopes of bringing my knowledge into the Graphics section! I'm mainly here to help, not for points :)

Please enjoy the tutorial and feel free to leave me any question feedback; I appreciate all of them. Feel free to even make a signature using this tutorial and post them here :), I'd love to see them.

Can I just say, this is more informational and useful than any other stupid how-to Photoshop tutorial I've seen on the web. I'd give you a point even though I only have four only I don't know how to. x)

And I'm really interested in graphic design myself, and I know how to work colors and textures and layers and lights and all that but I never seem to piece it together perfectly like you do. I never found a way to really express myself fully, because I guess even after a couple of years I'm not close to exploring Photoshop in it's entirety...there's just so much flexibility and so much you can do!

Sorry for rambling...But one question: You said you're a student of graphics design, do you mean in a college of some sort, or do you mean at your school like high school? You made it sound like you were past high school so I'm not sure.
And if it is college or something similar, how are you liking it? I'm only 14 but I'm really interested in graphic and web design and it could be something I would look forward to in the future.

Thanks a ton. :)

Thank you :) Your comment made me smile.
You're pretty good yourself! I actually saw your sig the other day and it gave me a few giggles. It's just too bad that .gifs still can't be very high quality compared to JPEG :(

As to answer your questions, I graduated from High School exactly a month ago. I'm moving onto college in about a month from now so I'm looking forward to it. I'll be in the Graphics Communication program and I have a few friends that are in there. They learn how to use PS, some web based projects, flash and towards the end of the year: A Portfolio, which I already have one and improving on.

If Graphic Design is one of your dreams, go for it! I actually went through a lot of changes before I finally made the final decision, but I eventually came back to it. However you might want to take breaks in between because sometimes I get sick from all the designing and coding I do in my room all day :P

Thank you, I'm glad it's helpful to you.
It's not a font, I wrote it with a 5px round brush, haha.
The font for "Basic" at the top is called "Broken Ghost".

If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to answer :)

You wrote your signature? Freehand with mouse or tablet? I'd cry at your awesome skills if you did it with a mouse lol.

I love how simple and to the point it is. Great for beginners. Usually when I see these tutorials they're like super duper long so I just skip them and experiment. Aethereality has some of the best resources too. I wish they updated more often like they used to though. ):

Great work, nice to see a fellow art student! *waves*

I really like this guide, I'm sure a lot of people will be able to learn a lot from this! Great way of explaining things, great tips for if you think there's something missing - and, wow, even CREDITS at the end (I haven't seen a PS guide with credits in ages)

Good job! I look forward to more of your guides.

Also, +1 point!

If someone says they're me, please ask them to PM you from this account. If they can't, then it's NOT me and you shouldn't agree to a MM trade with them.

Of course with tablet :P I tend to shake a bit with my mouse.
Thank you! Yeah, Aethereality is actually one of the oldest sites I've visited ever since I started out Graphic Designing. Ivy must be pretty busy with her real life graphic designing job though.

Thank you fellow art student :o! What kind of art do you study in?
Haha thanks, I always thought I was a pretty bad teacher, but I did try my best at explaining for this tutorial. Hm, it's true I don't see a lot of credits in tutorials, but I listed them anyway in case anybody wanted to use the same resources as well. After all credits are a nice way to respect the proper artists :)

Thanks, but which layer part? Maybe you can help me by telling what section number and explain a little more :o.

and here we have a winner.......
personally, 2 more points, since I was in desparte need of making a new sig and also making a new banner for the blog. perhaps this would be helping a ton on this very moment.

may I say, keep up with the good work, and i wish to see more from you coming on.
